What's the cost of doing business?
Something Halal charges merchants a 12.5% commission fee per order, one of the lowest rates among ordering platforms.
Does Something Halal charge other fees?
Something Halal does not charge any hidden fees to merchants. However, certain fees may be applicable for additional products or services as you opt in. Delivery fees are charged to the customer through Something Halal's delivery provider. Merchants offering in-house delivery will collect their own delivery fee through the platform.
What does the commission fee cover?
Something Halal offers one of the lowest commission rates in the industry, designed to maximize your profits while funding essential operations:
1. Platform Costs: Regular maintenance, updates, web hosting fees, 3rd party integrations and implementing advanced security features.
2. Platform Support: Customer and merchant support, troubleshooting assistance, onboarding guidance and training for merchants.
3. Resources & Staff: Feature enhancements, customer success teams to support merchants, and account managers to help optimize your store.
4. Advertising & Marketing: Social media campaigns, email marketing to Halal food lovers, and featuring restaurants in promotional deals or events.
Why It Matters: Our low commission structure ensures more of your revenue stays with you while providing our tools and support to grow your business.
Who collects taxes and how would that work?
Merchants are required to set their applicable tax rates for their region and collect them from each order for tax filing purposes. Taxes will show on the final receipt of the customers order.
How are orders fulfilled?
When a customer places an order, merchants will receive a notification through their app under orders. Merchants have the option to accept or cancel the order. Once an order is accepted, your team will process the order and mark as completed. Depending on the order request, customers will receive a notification their order is ready for pick-up or a delivery driver has been dispatched to collect the order for delivery.
How are deliveries handled?
Merchants have the option to use our 3rd party delivery provider where their fees will be shown directly to the customer. Merchants do not pay delivery fees to our 3rd party providers. Merchants also have the option to use their own in-house delivery drivers where they'll have the option to create a delivery radius, set and collect their own delivery charges through the platform. Please note for merchants who use their in-house drivers are not tracked on the app to customers.
How are payments handled?
Something Halal utilizes Stripe Connect, a third party payment provider which accurately collects, splits and distribute payments. Merchants will receive their payments for orders the following business day in their bank account. Merchants are required to provide a PAD form from their bank to enable direct payments. Stripe charges 2.9% + $0.30 per order.
What happens when an order is cancelled or disputed?
If an order is cancelled, the customer will receive a full refund. If a processed order is disputed, our support team will help to resolve the issue. Depending on the situation, the dispute may be resolved in favour of the merchant or the customer. If the customer wins the dispute, they will get a refund, and the merchant will cover the cost. If there's a dispute with our delivery provider, we will work with them to find a solution.
How does your On-Boarding Process work?
Our on-boarding process is handled by one of our account managers who will contact the merchant directly to obtain information and documentation related to the eligibility of your halal compliance. We conduct a thorough review of your business before offering you access to our platform.
